Sara’s practice focuses on the ‘Mystical Experience’ and the search for wholeness. On the

boundaries between outer and inner and the fluidity of being. She is interested in the

crossover of natural sciences and spiritual practices and in the limits of human

consciousness, selfhood and individualization.

Sara’s paintings have a surreal, dream like quality, and float between figuration

and abstraction. She utilizes dream symbols, visions and fragmented memories in order to

conjure a version of reality which resonates with her personal experience.

Radiant light beams, tunnels and openings guide the viewer into a hidden realm

that exists alongside our own. A timeless state, in contrast to the worldly chaos.

Recently Sara has been exploring the rich textile heritage of her homecountry, Iceland,

piecing together traditional patterns and collaging them with geometric landscapes to create vast canvases.

She is also actively engaged in exploring the symbolic meaning of colour and form within her practice.
